Ectos are up up and away..
I do recall another thread about ecto prices so feel free to close this one if its not to your liking mods but since the impending update of SF and various other skills being nerfed/buffed etc, I find it intresting to see how prices are getting higher daily especially in the trader.
Trader sais one ecto is at 8-8.5k which i havent seen in a couple of years almost now, wonder how much they would be worth after the nerf or even before the nerf hits.....

oh well, you only really need 105 ectos for a obsidian armor, and if you complete successful 105 full UW runs with a balanced team, you can get it. and since Ectos is gonna skyrocket, it also becomes devalued, impossible to get some of and people, especially the new generation of Gw1 players( seeking to get the HOM filled so they can get full benefits in gw2) would change the currency to something else, slightly easier to get, like obsidian shards or gems.

You know what would be funny?
If turns out that the price is driven up because everyone is buying ecto thinking of the millions they'll make by selling them after the nerf and then once the nerf arrives the demand for the ecto drops (because it doesn't make sense to hoard them any longer) along with the price.
Hopefully this will happen on Christmas.

in my opnion obi armor only looks good on female rt and mes. *ducks waiting to get hit from a guru guy for voicing my opnion* but obi armor is to costly so my 2 girls will make due with normal armor. but i am working to my last choas gloves on a girl. but sadly i only have 45e atm but i am content to wait until they drop in price before getting my rt her gloves.

Yeah, I was rather shocked by this myself. Oh well, as long as they don't nerf every relatively obscure build that can farm Smites, I'll profit from this.

i'm gonna laugh so hard when the full HoM bonus in GW2 amounts to nothing more than a rare weapon and/or armor set, and maybe a few extra lines of dialogue. this is anet and guild wars we are talking about here, does anyone actually believe they'll gain any real (as in statistical) advantages with a full HoM?
oh, and obsidian looks pretty nice on female rangers too, but that's just me.

Giving them a tacitical advantage in PvP for a full HoM won't happen and who cares about PvE. It will be something where they will type /bonus and get a shiny weapon. So who cares..really

Anyone with a full HoM would get the same thing in GW2, no matter whether you clear UW or not.
I simply refuse to trade for ectos and join in this mad circus. There is nothing that I need that require ectos and I am happy with my 1.5k luxon ranger armor for my female ranger, which is my favorite.

Simple economics:
If the majority of people believe the price is going to rise for some reason (scarcity, drop in supply...) people begin to buy more. The demand curve moves up and therefore the price level increases. Thus, because people think a commodity will increase in price, they actually create that increase in price. Speculation is wonderful, isn't it?

My personal observation:
It is not hard to figure out in party search who is running big botting operations. Common sense of the 2 or 3 items they bot makes it easy to spot. You will see these guys making so much gold that they are forced to buy ectos because they are overloaded with gold. They really do not care what price the ectos are at, they just need to dump the gold in order to keep the business going. However, I have noticed one big botter (he sold me well over 300 stacks of dust at 2.5k each that I spent all week converting then dumping at the merchant when the Traveler was collecting glass vials) and lately he is buying up zkeys instead. (I pmed him recently to buy a ton more dust to convert all my feather stacks into cons and he said full on gold in his broken Ching-lish...) So unless they come out with XTH free keys each month, they are going to keep going up too.

so thats how you get rich in this game, hang out with known 'big botters'? they always sell shit for cheap huh?
or maybe the RMT's are selling more ectos then cash money and with all them hacked accounts they are using the gold to buy ecto from the trader.

Pretty sure this is indeed what is happening because they are not all that much harder to get than they were before the uw changes. And even if they nerf shadow there are still plenty of farming builds to get them so I doubt they will be that much rarer than now.

I haven't been in UW since the addition of skeletons (or indeed, a while before that); is the 330 rit still viable for smite crawler farming?

in defense of my post, the Armor skins probably would be uber cool looking. I don't care about the advantages, I just want to look good when many others of the same race and class are still using the same kind of armor, making them into clones of each other.. :P
but anyway, Ectos, are probably on the way out unless a new original farming build comes out, then that would get nerfed. and on it goes.

Yes. Here's a build that works.
Spirit spammer also works well in the UW, though not as quickly as Smiting.

I hope a shiny unique weapon or armour set is all it amounts to. Or perhaps some other trivial thing that doesn't actually affect stats or performance.
Anything that gave you a statistical advantage would be wrong.

I sure don't, HOM was always a gimmick. If it's rewards were great in the next game they'd outrage that new playerbase.
